Week 1 Winners, "Earning while Learning"

Here's a summary of our Week 1 contest winners and what's ahead for Hatch Coding: a year of earning and learning. We're building the equivalent of the 21st century paper route and are excited about what's to come.

This past week we ran our first ever weekly digital art competition. We had 12 entrants and gave out $300 to the top 3 students:

1st place, Nyles: Art Link ($150)

2nd place, Samantha:: Art Link ($100)

3rd place, Patrick: Art Link ($50)

To find out what's so special about these projects, click the:

button multiple times from the explore link and see how the project changes.

We are going to do it again next week, and then the week after that, and every single week.

For the December 15 contest, there will be $7,000 in total prizes across two categories, Grades 4-8 and Grades 9-12.

Hatch Coding is doing all of this because 2022 is going to be the year of earning while learning. We're lining up partnerships with Shopify, press at Good Morning America and other surprises.

What if you aren't an artist? What if you don't know how to code?

Start with drawing a dot. In the middle of a blank sheet of paper.

And sign it. At the bottom.

(Children's book: the dot, narrated, 4 minutes)

If you can take that dot, and think:

and then redo your dot (or coding project) 10 times, each time making it better, or coming up with something else, and making that better every week, I promise that 2022 will bring amazing "earning while learning" opportunities for you.

We're just getting started!
